How to Get Started

  1. 1

    Prepare Educational Plan of Instruction

Create a brief document listing your educational goals for the child (subjects, materials).

    • List subjects: English (Reading, Writing), Math, Science, Social Studies
    • Briefly describe materials (e.g., 'Grade 5 Math Textbook', 'Library Books')
Tip: Keep it simple. It's a plan, not a daily schedule.
  2. 2

    File Notice of Intent

Submit the NOI and your Educational Plan to the local District Superintendent.

    • Complete the standard NOI form
    • Attach the Educational Plan
    • Mail return receipt requested or hand deliver
Tip: You must get a receipt/acknowledgment. This is your proof of legal homeschooling.

Within 10 days of withdrawal or 30 days of moving (or by age 7)
