Homeschooling is legal in Panama. The National Assembly passed Ley 245 of 2021 in August 2021, formally recognizing home education ('educacion en casa') as a lawful modality of distance learning. The Ministry of Education (MEDUCA) issued Executive Decree 45 of April 29, 2024 regulating the modality. As of 2026, the program continues to operate as a transitional pilot in selected official and private centers, with families enrolling through MEDUCA-designated educational centers that deliver the home education modality.
