Sophie has been involved in Waldorf education in some way for most of her life. Enrolled at three in a local Steiner playgroup, she continued in Waldorf right through to the end of high school. Later, while training as a teacher and completing her Waldorf training, she recognised what sets Waldorf apart: educating the whole child, fostering imagination and creativity, and offering a rich, developmentally appropriate curriculum.

Teaching in a range of settings around the world confirmed Sophie's passion for Waldorf. Returning home to New Zealand, she began class teaching in a Waldorf school. There she saw the challenges modern children (and their parents) face in a technology-centred world, and how Waldorf can prepare young people for the future by nurturing curious, critical and imaginative thinkers.

Alongside her class teaching, Sophie began supporting homeschooling families worldwide to craft their own Waldorf curricula. Her Southern Hemisphere perspective offers a fresh understanding of what Waldorf can be - honouring the strengths that have endured while remaining adaptable and responsive to today's children and families.

Sophie has long envisioned a curriculum that stays true to Steiner's intentions and also meets the realities of modern family life, wherever you are in the world. Starpath Learning is the long-held dream bringing that vision to life.

As a homeschooling dad and developer, Martins witnessed a need for a better approach to education, especially as technology, AI, and society continue to change at a rapid pace.

He was convinced there had to be a better way to equip his daughter with an education and skills that would truly meet the needs of the modern world. It became clear to him that while robots will handle most tasks, humans must elevate themselves to their highest potential in the ways that only humans can.

His research led him to explore various schools and methodologies. After traveling throughout Europe and speaking with different school directors, he discovered that the Waldorf approach checked most of the boxes that would help his children flourish in our increasingly digital and mechanical world, a world where humanity and unique human skills will be what truly shines.

However, he then realized that the right methodology wasn't the complete answer. To provide the best for his children, he needed to thoughtfully curate their entire environment, from the people they interact with to the activities they engage in and the content they consume. He understood that children absorb everything around them and mirror what they see.

Big part of giving the best education and tools to your children is also becoming a better parent and human being. And no one is better qualified for this job than the moms and dads of our beautiful children!
