Notice and filing
- Notification: Yes, annual
- What to file: Home Education Notification Form – Supervised by School Authority (www.alberta.ca/home-education)
- When: September 30 for funding
- Where: Supervising school authority or accredited private school
- How to submit: Form approved by Minister
- What to include
- Intent to home educate; authority responds within 15 school days
Subjects and hours
- Instruction: Parent-directed; must achieve learning outcomes; access to authority services and resources
Records to keep
- Records: Authority maintains student records; parents responsible for program records
Testing and assessment
- Testing: Not required
- Assessment: At least two evaluations per year by teacher facilitator employed by authority
Deadlines
- Supervised Notification for Funding: September 30 annually
- Annual Renewal Notification: recurring annual
- School Authority Response: 15 school days after notification
