Homeschooling is not a standard option in the Netherlands and is only permitted under strict exceptions to compulsory school attendance. The governing statute is the Leerplichtwet 1969, which mandates school enrollment and attendance from age 5. Exemptions are rare, primarily for parents unable to reconcile their conscience with local schools.
