Worldschooling Camp — Barichara, Colombia
Where the Classroom Is a Forest, a River, and a Village.
A worldschooling immersion for children ages 4 to 10 in Barichara, Colombia. Nature-based, bilingual, and rooted in the same whole-child philosophy that guides everything we do at Starpath.
Join the WaitlistBarichara: One of the Most Beautiful Villages in Colombia
Nestled high in the mountains of Santander, Barichara is a colonial heritage town surrounded by the High Andes Tropical Dry Forest, ancient walking trails, and a living culture of artisan craftsmanship that stretches back to the Indigenous Guane civilization.
Rivers carve through deep canyons. Native forests shelter rare biodiversity. Local artisans still practice traditional ceramics, weaving, and natural fiber work passed down through generations.
It is also home to a growing community of regenerative educators, ecological practitioners, and families reimagining what childhood can look like when the land itself is the teacher.
This is not a resort or a tourist experience. It is a real place with real roots, and your children will feel the difference.
A Week of Learning Through Living
Each morning, children take part in carefully facilitated activities designed to nourish the whole child: body, mind, and spirit. The program runs Monday to Friday, with small groups of no more than 15 children, guided by experienced local facilitators in both Spanish and English.
Forest as Teacher
Children walk through the tropical dry forest, learn to identify native plants and animals, care for water sources and soil, and develop a real, felt bond with the living world around them.
Creative Expression
Weaving, sculpting with clay, painting with natural pigments, rhythmic play, music, and storytelling. Children work with their hands every single day, using natural materials found in the territory.
Cultural Immersion
Connections with local artisan traditions, including workshops in traditional ceramic techniques rooted in Indigenous Guane culture. Children learn directly from craftspeople who carry deep ancestral knowledge of this region.
Ecological Design and Natural Building
Older children (ages 7 to 10) participate in hands-on projects including community gardening, ecological design, and natural construction, learning how humans can live in healthy relationship with the land.
Social and Emotional Learning
Mindfulness, meditative breathing, yoga, play-based connection, and group activities that foster empathy, self-awareness, and a sense of belonging. The program places emotional well-being and human flourishing at its centre.
Bilingual Experience
Spanish and English are woven naturally into all daily activities, giving children real-world language immersion in a warm, supportive setting.
Tailored to Where Your Child Is
A nurturing garden-like environment focused on emotional well-being, comfort, security, nature connection, arts, and creative play. The youngest children need foundations that are healthy and strong, and this program is designed to provide exactly that.
A more adventurous experience where children become guardians of their environment. They create community gardens, explore ecological design, hike through the territory, learn from local artisans, and practice art, theatre, and English as immersive experiences. All activities are designed to meet real learning objectives while keeping curiosity and joy at the centre.
This Is What Whole-Child Education Looks Like in the Wild
At Starpath, we believe children learn best when they are engaged through stories, rhythm, creativity, and connection. Our online curriculum brings that into your home every day. This camp brings it to life in a completely different way.
Here, children are not sitting in front of screens or filling in worksheets. They are walking through forests, shaping clay with their hands, singing songs in two languages, and learning from a landscape that has sustained human communities for thousands of years.
The philosophy behind this camp is regenerative. Children cannot be healthy if their connection to the natural world is broken. And they cannot truly learn if their emotional and social foundations are not cared for first. Everything in this programme is designed around that understanding.
