A microschool charges tuition, employs teachers, usually runs several days a week, and admits students rather than accepting members. You enrol your child and leave. That is the line between it and a homeschool co-op, where you stay and usually teach, and where the cost is a fraction of it.
Most of the growth in this category is in American states that put education funds in families' hands, which is why the list below is shorter than you might expect and concentrated where those programmes exist.
Co-op or microschool?
The question that settles it fastest is whether you want your week back or want other adults teaching alongside you. A co-op costs a day and a share of the work. A microschool costs money.
